The story of Pyrenees

Pyrenees opened at Shima Spain Village in 1997, bringing a large Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster to the Japanese park. Its steel track and suspended trains were arranged as a custom Inverted Coaster rather than a standard installation. coasterpedia.net· j-amusementpark.com

The Japanese Amusement Park Society’s survey records a forty-five-metre height, a top speed of one hundred kilometres an hour and six inversions. It describes the ride as a particularly large example of the inverted form. j-amusementpark.com

The park describes Pyrenees as being shaped after the mountain range between Spain and France. Its account also calls the spiral interlock loop, which circles a vertical loop, a world-first feature at the time of its introduction. parque-net.com

The same survey records a theoretical operating efficiency of one thousand six hundred riders per hour, a figure suited to the busy summer afternoons for which a major park attraction must be prepared. j-amusementpark.com
