The story of Orion

Kings Island announced Orion as a new B&M Giga Coaster in 2019, choosing the former Firehawk area for a project that would become the park’s largest investment to that time. coaster101.com· fox19.com

The construction rose quickly. Trackwork was completed, the great lift was brought into service, and the finished train made its first test run before the park’s scheduled spring opening. coasterpedia.net· coaster101.com

The season did not begin as planned, for the park remained closed during the early months of 2020. Orion first welcomed season-pass visitors in July and opened to the general public later that month. coasterpedia.net· spectrumnews1.com

When visitors finally reached its station, Orion was presented as Kings Island’s tallest, fastest and longest steel coaster, and thousands of waiting pass holders arrived for their first journey. sixflags.com· spectrumnews1.com
