FAQ
straight answers, no fine print underneath
Is thoozie actually free?
Yes. Every card is obtainable free — see the Collector's Promise. There is no card behind a paywall, and no way to play needs payment. Paying is optional and only ever buys speed — coins, or FastPass (see /help#fastpass).
What are coins, and how do I get them?
Coins are the in-game currency. You earn them by melting a spare duplicate at its published rate (see /pricing); finishing an album page (a coin reward on top of the page pack) or a whole set (a one-off 5,000 coins); daily-claim streak milestones (7 days: 150, 30 days: 600, 100 days: 2,000); practice wins against the house (25 coins each, the first 3 a day); duels against thoosies (75 for a win, 40 for a draw, 15 for a loss, the first 5 a day); daily jobs (40 each); and the daily puzzle (up to 50). Coins buy packs on the shelf, plus a few extras in the coin shop. They are a closed loop — earned in the park, spent in the park, never converted to real money, never resold. The full list is at /help#coins.
How does swapping work?
List a spare duplicate and the Swap Shop matches you automatically with a collector who needs it and has something you need, favouring the card that finishes, or gets you closest to finishing, one of your album pages. Matches are shiny for shiny, and like for like on tier — except that a match may hand you a lower tier when that card finishes one of your pages. You never get a lower tier for nothing, and everything on your ticket is a card you don't have. Every match lands on your Swap ticket: one Punch confirms your half of every line, and nothing moves until BOTH of you punch — either order, and the cards change hands the instant the second one does. Passing a line ends it and puts your spare back on the shelf. You hold at most five matches at a time. Your last copy of a card is never at risk; only genuine spares can be listed.
What does melting a card mean?
Melting turns one spare duplicate into coins at the published rate for its tier. Your last copy is always protected, so the card stays in your collection. See /pricing for the current melt rates.
Can I buy packs with real money?
Not directly: packs are only ever bought with coins. Real money buys two things from the shop, and nothing else: coins, and FastPass (from £3.99 a month with a 7-day free trial), which gives 3 daily cards instead of 1, 2,000 coins a month once you're paying, missed cards that save for 3 days, and a streak freeze each month. Purchases are for accounts declared 18 and over. Either one only speeds up what you can already reach for free; the odds are the same and nothing is locked. See the Promise for the line we won't cross.
What's a duel, and what do I win?
A duel is best of five on a card's five battle stats — Height, Speed, Inversions, Throughput and Vintage. Play anyone as a 24-hour duel, with a day for each call, or as a live duel with whoever is here now. A practice win against the house pays 25 coins (the first 3 a day); a duel against a thoosie pays 75, 40 or 15 for a win, draw or loss (the first 5 a day). A duel never pays out cards. The full rules are at /help#duels.
A card prints six stats. Why are only five played?
Every card prints six rows: Height, Speed, Inversions, Throughput, Vintage and its build cost. The first five are the battle stats you call in a duel. The cost is there for the record — an estimate, explained on /methodology — and is never played.
Can I duel my friends live?
Yes. The Live duels strip on the duels page shows who is here now: ask someone, or tap Play now to be paired with whoever is free. Every call has a short shot clock, and if someone drops out the duel simply carries on as a 24-hour duel. The full rules are at /help#live-duels.
What is a rider?
A rider is a friend you play with on thoozie. Invite a friend from /referrals with your link, thoozie.com/r/yourhandle, and you are riders as soon as they join. You can also ask a player by their handle, and they become your rider when they accept; a friend who takes up a duel you sent them by link becomes one too. Riders get longer to answer each other's challenges, can swap and give spares directly, and are first in line for live duels. See /help#riders.
How do the odds work? Can they change without warning?
The full pull-rate table lives at /odds, generated straight from the same numbers the pack engine draws against — not retyped by hand, so it can't quietly drift from what actually happens when you open a pack. If odds ever change, that page changes the same day. Every opening is server-seeded and independently verifiable after the fact; see the Verify section on /odds.
What happens when I refer someone?
Invite a friend and they get a free pack of real roller coaster cards. You get a pack too when they open it, for your first 48 friends, and you become riders. Your 4th, 8th, 16th and 24th friends also pay 500, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 coins. Your link is on /referrals.
Do I need an invite code to join?
No. The invite-only beta is over: anyone can sign up at /signup, free, and a Welcome Pack is waiting the moment you do.
Can I still become a Founder?
No — Founders closed at the end of 30 September 2026, with 185 of them. Their numbers stay on their member cards for good. Everything else in thoozie is open to everyone, free.
A stat on a card looks wrong. How do I report it?
Every card page has a way to report a fact — tell us what you've got and where it's from (a manufacturer spec, a press release, a park statement beats a forum thread). See /methodology for how Height, Speed, Build Cost and Throughput are sourced, and how corrections get verified before a number changes.
Is thoozie gambling?
No — and this is the one line we treat as absolute. Coins never convert to real money, are never transferable outside the game and are never resold; there is no cash-out, full stop. Every card is reachable free, so paying only ever buys speed, never access to something a free player structurally can't reach. See the Collector's Promise for the whole list.
What ages is thoozie for?
thoozie does not allow under-13 accounts, and purchases are limited to accounts declared 18 and over, with no parental-consent route around that. Age gates are imperfect by nature; we run ours in good faith and treat any gap as a bug, not a feature — see the Promise.
Does my data get sold?
See /privacy for the full policy. Short version: we collect what running the game requires and nothing is sold to advertisers.
Is there a mobile app?
thoozie runs in your phone's browser and can be added to your home screen, where it opens like an app — Home shows you how, once. Added that way, it can also send push alerts, and you choose which in Settings.
