Our AI statement

honest about the placeholders

thoozie is a small crew building a card game about real roller coasters. Some of the pictures you'll see around the platform are AI-made placeholders for now, and we'd rather tell you exactly which ones than leave you guessing.

What's a placeholder right now

  • The pack wrappers and the back of every card.
  • The set covers on your collection shelf.
  • The park mascots on member cards and on Who's Who.
  • The little icons in the bottom navigation bar.
  • The art for mini events.
  • The paper and print textures that give the cards their worn look.
  • The "photo wanted" illustration on the handful of cards still missing a real photo (the same picture doubles as the postcard on our home page).
  • The sound effects and park ambience — the card flicks, bells, boings and stamps on the duel table and when a pack opens, and the park and fairground sounds under the music. They were generated with ElevenLabs from written descriptions, then listened to, picked and trimmed by a person.

Each one was generated when we built it, then picked and prepared by a person. This page is updated as placeholders are retired.

What AI never touches

The photographs on the cards are real — taken by players and licensed photographers, and credited on the card. The coasters are real rides, and their printed stats are researched with sources; where a number is an estimate, it says so, and our methodology explains how. And an illustration is always called an illustration: an AI picture is never labelled or passed off as a photograph.

The music. Both themes were written, performed and produced by composer Nick Hutson. No AI was used anywhere in them; the sound effects and park ambience are the only AI-made things you hear.

Why placeholders, and what replaces them

We'd rather open the park with placeholder art than keep the gates shut waiting for perfect. The plan is to swap it, piece by piece, for work by real makers from the community. As a maker's work lands, the placeholder comes out and the maker is credited.

Get involved

If you draw, shoot, write or make, we'd love to show your work. Photos submitted from a card page are credited on the card.
