The story of Bandit
Yomiuriland opened Bandit in March 1988, adding a major new steel attraction to its wooded hillside above Tokyo. The park's own history records the opening as part of its age of world-record rides. yomiuriland.co.jp· yomiuriland.co.jp
Built by TOGO, Bandit was regarded at its opening as the world's fastest roller coaster and the tallest complete-circuit coaster. Its achievement was soon surpassed as larger American rides arrived, but the distinction belongs firmly to its first season. coasterpedia.net· yomiuriland.co.jp
Rather than crossing a bare amusement-park plain, the course runs through the park's forest, repeating its rises, descents and banked turns among the trees. Yomiuriland describes the changing seasons as part of the character of the ride. yomiuriland.com· coasterpedia.net
Bandit remains in operation, carrying visitors along its long steel course with the same straightforward purpose that marked its arrival: height, speed and the pleasure of a fine view from the top. yomiuriland.com· coasterpedia.net
