Nemesis Reborn

Alton Towers had a difficult piece of Staffordshire ground and a park height limit to respect. The answer was to dig down, shaping an excavated landscape where a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster could run low, close, and dramatic; the original Nemesis opened in 1994. en.wikipedia.org

The old ride became a British landmark of engineering restraint: not tall by ordinary measures, but arranged with uncommon art around rock, paths, and watching visitors. Its thirteen-metre height, four inversions, and eighty-one-kilometre-per-hour pace gave Alton Towers a compact machine of considerable consequence. en.wikipedia.org· coasterpedia.net

After long service, Alton Towers closed Nemesis for a major retracking project, renewing the ride rather than replacing its celebrated course. Trade press reported the transformation as an eighteen-month undertaking, with the coaster returning to guests in March 2024. blooloop.com· itv.com

When Nemesis Reborn opened on 16 March 2024, visitors came from across Britain and the queues grew long on that first day. The renewed ride kept the old Alton Towers virtue: a great coaster made not by height alone, but by the way it inhabits its own carved valley. blooloop.com· itv.com
