The story of Fujiyama
Fujiyama opened in 1996, when loops and corkscrews were much in fashion. Fuji-Q Highland chose instead to pursue the grand, traditional language of the coaster: a long climb, a commanding descent, and a succession of swift changes in pace. fujiq.jp· fujikyu.co.jp
TOGO’s steel structure was raised beside Mount Fuji as a considerable engineering undertaking. The contemporary Fuji-Q press material records a construction cost of approximately 27.6 million US dollars, reflecting the scale of the project. fujikyu.co.jp· thrillzing.com
At its debut, Fuji-Q presented Fujiyama as a new King of Coasters, distinguished by its height, speed, great descent, and full-circuit course. The arrangement gave the train room to gather its strength rather than spend the journey turning upside down. fujikyu.co.jp· fujiq.jp
Fujiyama remains in service at Fuji-Q Highland, where its lofty first view takes in the park and, on a clear day, Mount Fuji itself. It has become one of the enduring landmarks of the Yamanashi amusement park. fujiq.jp· fujiq.jp
