The story of Mystic Timbers

Kings Island announced Mystic Timbers on July 28, 2016, with Great Coasters International appointed to build a wooden coaster for the park’s Rivertown setting. Vertical construction began in August, and the first drop was completed in November. coasterpedia.net· wvxu.org

The site presented a proper engineer’s challenge. The course had to cross the lagoon, the park railway and White Water Canyon, requiring custom piles, raised structures and a number of bridges. Winter rain made the concrete work no easier. amusementtoday.com

Mystic Timbers opened to the public at Kings Island on April 15, 2017. Designed for the local ground, the ride keeps low among the trees, passes over water and railway, and finishes with its enclosed shed. sixflags.com· amusementtoday.com

In its first season, Mystic Timbers was named Best New Ride of 2017 in the Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards, giving Kings Island another distinguished wooden coaster for its Rivertown landscape. coasterpedia.net· sixflags.com
