The story of Banshee

Banshee opened in 2014 as a major new attraction for Kings Island, designed exclusively for the Ohio park by Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland. It was presented as the world’s longest steel inverted coaster. bolliger-mabillard.com· sixflags.com

The ride was laid across hilly ground formerly occupied by Son of Beast and King Cobra. Its designers made use of the natural terrain, giving the journey a remarkable change of elevation from the lift to the lower inversions. daytondailynews.com· sixflags.com

Construction brought together a number of Ohio firms. Clermont Steel Fabricators produced the steel, while local contractors handled the foundations, electrical work and erection of the frame. daytondailynews.com

Visitors and the local press received the new coaster warmly at its debut. Banshee helped make 2014 a record-setting year for Kings Island and led the park to an all-time opening-day attendance record. daytondailynews.com· amusementtoday.com
