The story of Cheetah Hunt

Busch Gardens announced Cheetah Hunt in October 2010 for the following spring, with May 27, 2011 set as opening day. It was introduced as Florida’s first triple-launch coaster. bgthistory.com· prnewswire.com

Intamin’s design carried the track through the park rather than confining it to a single rise. From the station it crossed open grassland, climbed the Windcatcher Tower, and descended into a trench before entering a rocky gorge. prnewswire.com

Construction brought the new course through the former Rhino Rally canyon and over the Skyride route. Final track was installed in March 2011, and careful envelope testing followed before the trains were cleared for guests. bgthistory.com

Technical trouble delayed the opening morning, but Cheetah Hunt began carrying visitors that afternoon. Contemporary coverage placed the investment at about $20 million. bgthistory.com· coasterbuzz.com
