The story of Griffon

Griffon took the place of Le Mans Raceway at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, making room for a new steel landmark in the park’s French quarter. Bolliger & Mabillard supplied the Dive Coaster design, and the finished ride opened in 2007. coasterpedia.net· coaster101.com

Its floorless trains were arranged in broad, stadium-style rows, leaving visitors with an open view as the train gathered itself above the first descent. The design also brought two inversions to a form of coaster better known for its great, suspended drops. coaster101.com· buschgardens.com

By the first summer, Griffon had become one of the park’s principal attractions. The Washington Post reported that the longest queues at Busch Gardens Williamsburg were forming for the new floorless steel coaster, whose train swept from its great drop through loops and across the water below. washingtonpost.com
