The story of Verbolten

Verbolten was announced as the capstone attraction of a two-year refurbishment of Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Oktoberfest village. Zierer of Germany was appointed to build the indoor-and-outdoor launch coaster. attractionsmanagement.com· latimes.com

Construction began in the summer before opening. Crews prepared the ground, poured concrete supports, installed the steel track, and built an enclosure for the ride’s effects. The design made use of the park’s natural hills and valleys. inparkmagazine.com

By January 2012, the final piece of track had been fitted into place, while the station, trains, and enclosed effects were still being completed. Busch Gardens presented the work as a substantial engineering undertaking for its German village. inparkmagazine.com

Verbolten opened to visitors on May 18, 2012. Its route combined two electromagnetic launches, an enclosed section, a free-fall element, and a plunge beside the park’s Rhine River. coasterpedia.net· attractionsmanagement.com
