The story of Spinning Coaster

Spinning Coaster arrived at Yokohama Cosmoworld in 1998, built in steel by the French firm Reverchon. Its cars turn as they travel, giving the compact railway its distinctive character. coasterpedia.net

The ride was installed upon the roof of a building, an arrangement the park describes as Japan’s first of its kind. Its highest point stands about twenty-five metres above the ground. cosmoworld.jp

A chain lift sends the cars into a course of hairpin turns, with nine cars carrying four passengers apiece. The railway is listed at 420 metres in length and 900 riders per hour. coasterpedia.net

Today, Spinning Coaster remains in service in the park’s Wonder Amuse Zone, continuing its unusual rooftop circuit above Yokohama. cosmoworld.jp· coasterpedia.net
