The story of Silver Bullet

Knott’s Berry Farm announced Silver Bullet in December 2003 as a sixteen-million-dollar steel inverted coaster from the Swiss firm Bolliger & Mabillard. The proposed course was to occupy ground recently vacated by the Church of Reflections chapel, with much of the track standing over Reflection Lake. latimes.com

Construction proceeded through 2004, and the track was reported complete by the beginning of October, ahead of schedule. The finished arrangement included six inversions and an overbanked curve among its principal features. theparks.it

Silver Bullet opened on December 7, 2004, becoming Knott’s Berry Farm’s seventh roller coaster. Its opening train climbed 146 feet before carrying riders along 3,125 feet of steel track and through a six-inversion course. ultimaterollercoaster.com· ultimaterollercoaster.com

In its construction, the track and supports were filled with sand to lessen the sound of the passing trains. The ride also introduced magnetic braking to a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster, a quiet piece of engineering beneath the sweeping course. ultimaterollercoaster.com
