The story of HangTime
HangTime was chosen for Knott’s Berry Farm’s Boardwalk, replacing Boomerang on a compact site. The park presented the new attraction as California’s first dive coaster, while its machinery came from Gerstlauer’s Infinity Coaster range. coasterpedia.net· sixflags.com
Preparing the ground was a considerable piece of work. Earlier ride foundations had to be removed, and crews laboured in rotating shifts to make the new structure ready for visitors. latimes.com
The finished ride opened in 2018 with a vertical lift, a holding pause at the crest, a beyond-vertical descent, and five inversions. Its design gave the Boardwalk a conspicuous new landmark and brought a distinctive German engineering achievement to Buena Park. coasterpedia.net· interpark.co.uk
After opening, the holding brake became a popular place for visitors to watch the train pause above the Boardwalk. At night, track-chase lighting follows the course and gives the steelwork a second appearance after sunset. interpark.co.uk· sixflags.com
