Planning for Iron Dragon began in 1985. The ground was prepared after the Monster ride closed in 1986, while the former Western Cruise boat station occupied the site that would become Iron Dragon’s station. en.wikipedia.org
Arrow Dynamics completed the steel suspended coaster for Cedar Point, and Iron Dragon opened to visitors on June 11, 1987. It was one of the park’s two coasters to use two separate lift hills. coasterpedia.net· sixflags.com
The design places its passenger cars beneath the running rail, allowing them to swing naturally through broad turns over water and among the trees. It was a distinctive piece of engineering for Cedar Point’s lakeside midway. coasterpedia.net· sixflags.com
