The story of Invader

Invader was introduced at Rainbow’s End in December 2009, adding a new ride to the Auckland park’s collection of major attractions. The park records that it quickly became popular with visitors of all ages. rainbowsend.co.nz

The ride came from Italy and made its arrival in six forty-foot containers. Rainbow’s End’s account describes the delivery travelling from the Ports of Auckland in convoy to the park, a suitably impressive piece of seaside logistics for a substantial new amusement ride. rainbowsend.co.nz

Park World reported in February 2010 that Invader was a twenty-four-seat Zamperla Disk’O Coaster and believed it to be the first ride of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. parkworld-online.com

Contemporary reporting found that the new ride helped increase visitation, revenue and profit at Rainbow’s End after its December 2009 opening. Invader had made a strong beginning on the Auckland hillside. nzherald.co.nz· nzherald.co.nz
