The story of Phoenix Rising

Busch Gardens announced Phoenix Rising in October 2023 as a new suspended family coaster for the Pantopia district. The original announcement placed its opening in spring 2024 and described it as the park’s largest family-oriented addition to that area. prnewswire.com

The planned spring opening became a summer debut. Pass Members received previews from July 17 to July 20, 2024, and Phoenix Rising opened to all guests on July 21, standing above the Serengeti Plain and among the attractions of Pantopia. buschgardens.com· buschgardens.com

The ride was introduced to bridge a clear gap in the park’s family coaster line-up: a step beyond Air Grover, but gentler in scale than Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s larger coasters. Trade coverage noted its swinging suspended cars and its broad view across the Serengeti Plain. amusementtoday.com

With a height of 24.4 metres, a top speed of 70.8 kilometres per hour, and a recorded cost of twenty million dollars, Phoenix Rising brought a substantial new steel structure to the centre of the park. coasterpedia.net· buschgardens.com
