The story of Windstorm

Windstorm opened at Old Town in Kissimmee on February 15, 1997. It was a compact steel coaster supplied by Zamperla, giving the Florida midway a substantial new outline beside its shops, lights and evening traffic. coasterpedia.net· zamperla.com

The ride offered a straightforward chain-lift ascent and a brisk run without inversions. Its modest footprint and family-sized train made it well suited to the close quarters of Old Town's amusement area. coasterpedia.net· ultimaterollercoaster.com

Old Town announced in September 2014 that its amusement rides would be removed as the complex returned to its earlier shopping-and-entertainment format and underwent a remodel. Windstorm was sold rather than simply forgotten. ultimaterollercoaster.com· coasterpedia.net

The coaster was moved to Adventure Park USA in Maryland, where it reopened in 2015 under the name Wild West Express. Its years above the Kissimmee midway therefore became the first chapter of a longer travelling life. coasterpedia.net· amusementtoday.com
