The story of Le Monstre
Le Monstre was conceived as a two-track wooden coaster for La Ronde, with William L. “Bill” Cobb and John Pierce shaping the design around the available ground on Île Sainte-Hélène. urbania.ca
The builders reclaimed part of the island marina site, laid a forest of concrete foundations, and assembled the great structure from treated Douglas fir. Winter work brought the added difficulty of river winds and Montréal weather. urbania.ca
The first course welcomed visitors in 1985, while the second was completed for the following season. From the beginning, the ride drew long queues and quickly became one of La Ronde's great public attractions. coasterpedia.net· urbania.ca
