The story of Wicked Twister

Cedar Point announced Wicked Twister in November 2001 as its fifteenth roller coaster. It was planned for the eastern side of the peninsula, where the structure would run beside the historic beach and on both sides of the Giant Wheel. ultimaterollercoaster.com

When it opened in 2002, Wicked Twister was presented as the world's tallest and fastest double-twisting impulse coaster. Its linear induction motor sent one suspended train forward and backward through the U-shaped course, with both towers carrying a 450-degree twist. ultimaterollercoaster.com· coasterpedia.net

The ride made its final launches on September 6, 2021. Cedar Point said it had reached the end of its service life, and the park prepared the former ride area for future development. coasterpedia.net· wxyz.com

The towers were dismantled during the winter that followed, and Cedar Point completed the demolition in January 2022 after a twenty-year run. spectrumnews1.com· coasterpedia.net
