The story of Dive Coaster
Dive Coaster was announced as a major addition to the third stage of Chimelong Paradise’s development in October 2007. The installation was designed and built by the Swiss firm Bolliger & Mabillard, whose machinery had already earned a distinguished place in the world of large amusement rides. news.sina.cn
By the announcement, two-thirds of the track structure had been erected, with completion, testing and safety inspection planned before the 2008 Spring Festival. The railway opened to visitors on 21 January 2008, bringing the Dive Coaster model to China for the first time. news.sina.cn· coasterpedia.net· china.org.cn
The finished course was arranged as a steel, floorless diving machine, with a ninety-degree descent, an Immelmann inversion, an underground passage and a run across the water. Contemporary accounts described the new structure as a landmark of Chimelong Paradise and one of the costly achievements of its kind. coasterpedia.net· china.org.cn· chimelong.com
