The story of Backlot Stunt Coaster
The attraction was announced in August 2004 as a new Premier Rides coaster for the 2005 season at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland. Its design called for a fast, compact course of launches, tunnels, turns and practical effects. web.archive.org· coasterpedia.net
Work was completed in six months, and the new ride opened on May 1, 2005, in the park’s Action Zone. The launch system made it a notable Canadian engineering first. press.bmwgroup.com· coasterpedia.net
At opening, the coaster was presented as a high-speed family attraction, carrying as many as 1,000 riders each hour and reaching 64.4 km/h. Its compact steel layout was built around three LIM launches rather than a traditional lift hill. press.bmwgroup.com· coasterpedia.net
Following the change in park ownership, the attraction received its present name, Backlot Stunt Coaster, in 2008. It continues to operate at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario. coasterpedia.net· coasterpedia.net
