The story of Trimper's Haunted House

Granville Trimper was inspired by the dark rides at Glen Echo Park and chose the site of the former Windsor Theater, near his family's amusement park by the Ocean City Inlet. He engaged Bill Tracy to design and install the haunted displays, and the one-storey attraction opened in 1964. trimpershauntedhouse.com· en.wikipedia.org

The original ride was a carefully made boardwalk dark ride, with Tracy's scenery and mechanical surprises arranged along a tracked course. Its façade and many of its early displays became part of the visual character of the southern Ocean City boardwalk. ochh.net· ochh.net

In 1988, Granville Trimper added a second story and enlarged the ride. Displays, ride systems, and the façade from the closed Ghost Ship at Playland Park were incorporated into the new arrangement, giving this old boardwalk house a renewed life above its original floor. trimpershauntedhouse.com· coasterpedia.net
