The story of Black Diamond
The attraction began life on a New Jersey pier as the Golden Nugget, designed by John C. Allen for the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. Its unusual form joined a steel roller coaster to a dark ride. amusementtoday.com
After the pier closed, the ride stood unused. Knoebels acquired the surviving track, trains, and other components and transported them to Pennsylvania. amusementtoday.com· coasterpedia.net
At Knoebels, the pieces were restored and reassembled inside a new tri-level building. The recreated attraction opened as Black Diamond in 2011. amusementtoday.com· en.wikipedia.org
Its return was warmly received, with NAPHA members naming Black Diamond one of the Best New Attractions of 2011. napha.org
