The story of Ghost Train

Pleasure Beach introduced its original Ghost Train in 1930, drawing upon the Pretzel dark-ride form that had become popular in the United States during the previous decade. The ride was arranged on a single level at first. en.wikipedia.org· coasterpedia.net

In 1936, the park commissioned Joseph Emberton to create a more substantial replacement. His design added a second level and gave the attraction the compact, architectural character it retains as it stands among Blackpool’s seaside amusements. en.wikipedia.org· blackpoolpleasurebeach.com

Jack Ratcliff led further changes in 1957, when the ride was moved slightly to make room for the Wild Mouse. The park’s own historical material records both the 1936 redesign and this later alteration. en.wikipedia.org· blackpoolpleasurebeach.com

Today, visitors travel through the dark in small tracked cars, passing painted effects illuminated by blacklights. After more than nine decades at the resort, the attraction remains an operating piece of Blackpool’s amusement history. en.wikipedia.org· coasterpedia.net
