The story of Pteranodon Flyers

Pteranodon Flyers opened with Islands of Adventure on May 28, 1999, becoming one of the park's original steel coasters. Its compact circuit was designed to carry visitors above the paths in a suspended car rather than along a conventional track. coasterpedia.net

The project had an unusual beginning. Initial design work was undertaken by the Dutch firm Caripro and Spectra F/X, but construction was left unfinished when Spectra F/X went out of business. Setpoint was then brought in to complete the ride. coastergallery.com

Setpoint finished the attraction as a single-rail suspended coaster, with its cars hanging beneath the track and carrying two visitors in line. The chain lift and absence of inversions give the journey its measured, family character. coasterpedia.net
