The story of Stampida

PortAventura’s young park received Stampida in 1997, placing a great wooden race in the Far West section. For the traveller arriving in Tarragona, it was a broad new piece of timber engineering beside the resort’s avenues. coasterpedia.net· portaventuraworld.com

Custom Coasters International furnished the ride as a twin wooden coaster. The two routes climb, descend, separate, and meet again, making the contest visible to passengers as well as to visitors watching from the paths below. coasterpedia.net· portaventuraworld.com

The park’s own account describes Stampida as nearly a kilometre of wooden rises, falls, bends, tunnels, and dust, with a first descent of more than twenty-five metres and a top speed of 74 km/h. portaventuraworld.com
