The story of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster opened at Walt Disney Studios Park on 16 March 2002, as part of the opening programme for Disneyland Paris's new studio park. It was the Paris installation of a coaster design first introduced in Florida. d23.com
Vekoma supplied a custom steel coaster using linear synchronous motor propulsion. Rather than climbing a traditional lift hill, the train is launched within an enclosed hangar and carried through a compact arrangement of three inversions. coasterpedia.net· ed92.org
The engineering is neatly concentrated: a structure 24.4 metres high, a top speed of 91.7 kilometres per hour, and a published capacity of 1,800 visitors per hour. It is a substantial piece of machinery, though much of its work is hidden from the visitor until the train is released. coasterpedia.net· ed92.org
Opening-day reporting placed the coaster among the principal attractions of Walt Disney Studios Park, describing visitors being carried through a darkened hangar on an upside-down musical ride. The account captured the ride's particular character: a piece of studio spectacle built around a very serious machine. mrt.com
